Ever wondered what the big deal is about Pickleball? Welcome to Dinks on Tap, where the pickleball paddle meets the margarita. We’re Casie and Lauren, your pickleball partners in crime, here to spill the beans on why pickleball is more than just a game. It’s that “more” part we’re so drawn to. That “more” part which we highly suspect is about rediscovering PLAY in our lives and bringing FUN into focus. Let’s be clear, we’re not pros. We’re just a couple of recreational players who notice, marvel, and revel in the nuances that make up the juice to this fruit’s fine squeeze. In each episode we’ll look at the life breathing behind, within, underneath and alongside the game... That momentum shift on the court, (“Why am I so ‘off’ today?”), the Fourth Man Struggle (“Seriously, who else can we get to play?”), the camaraderie that turns strangers into friends (“Do you want to exchange numbers?”) and various other dynamics that go beyond the dink to make up the humor, heart, and hard-won wisdom we find between the lines. So join us! Pour a glass, squeeze a lime, and let’s get under the hood of just how good it feels to rediscover PLAY in our lives.

What listeners will find here
How pickleball turns adult friendship and leadership into a practice
Adult friendship, belonging, and growth are at the center of this conversation with pickleball coach and author Colleen Riddle. The episode explores how open play, learning as a beginner, and showing up consistently can build confidence, community, and connection far beyond the court.
Mary Steenburgen on beginner pickleball, aging with purpose, and The Dink set
Mary Steenburgen joins to talk pickleball open play, beginner nerves, and the friendships that grow around the game. She also gets into improv with Jake Johnson on The Dink, the story behind her post-surgery musical “gift,” and why she sees pickleball as a powerful sport for older adults.
Inside Major League Pickleball: trades, contracts, drafts, and the owner’s playbook
Major League Pickleball’s off-court machinery is the focus here, with LA Mad Drops owner Alex Geesbreght explaining trades, expiring contracts, the draft, and roster strategy. It’s a practical look at how teams are built now and what the league may need to become more sustainable.
Cleo King explains how Gail from The Dink became a pickleball favorite
Cleo King joins to talk about playing Gail in The Dink, from a same-day audition on an actual court to learning pickleball from Brad Gilbert before filming. The episode also gets into etiquette, fan reactions, and how Cleo went from barely playing to packing three paddles when she travels.
Why a pickleball partner breakup can feel so personal
This episode digs into the grief, anxiety, and social fallout that can come with losing a pickleball partner or watching a regular group change. Dr. Amanda Sovik-Johnston explores why these shifts hit so hard and how healthy competition and clear intentions can help you keep growing.
